TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR SUBMITTING PROPOSALS

BY THEATRE GROUPS OUTSIDE CYPRUS

FOR THE 18^TH INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF ANCIENT GREEK DRAMA

The Cyprus Centre of the International Theatre Institute, the Ministry of Education and Culture, Cultural Services and the Cyprus Tourism Organization are launching the 18^th International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama, which will take place during the whole month of July 2014.

The International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama has been established as an outstanding institution, which is characterized by its international identity. The performances are presented in open-air amphitheatres: the Paphos Ancient Odeon, the Curium Ancient Theatre and the Makarios III Amphitheatre in Nicosia.

The proposed performances must be based on the original text of the tragedians and comedians of antiquity.

The theatre groups and artists who are interested in applying for participation should take into consideration:

Quality of the proposals

The proposals to be submitted should state clearly and specifically the artistic part of the performance and the cast and credits.
The application should include the producer’s profile (theatre group or individual), the theatre group’s profile, the translator, the director, the cast and credits of the performance and the dates that the theatre group can travel to Cyprus, in case the Selection Committee choose the performance. The proposal is valid only if a DVD of the performance is sent to the Cyprus Centre of the I.T.I.

Procedural:

If the proposal of the theatre group is modified less than three months before its presentation at the Festival, the proposal will not be valid. In that case the Selection Committee will review or even cancel the participation.
Tickets are issued on the behalf of the Cyprus Centre of the ITI. The rights of admission are reserved by the Cyprus Centre of the ITI.

The organizers will provide the necessary audiovisual support for the materialization of the Festival according to the needs of each performance.

The Selection Committee of the Festival consists of representatives of the organizers: Cyprus Centre of the I.T.I, the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Cyprus Tourism Organization and one ex officio member.

The proposal will be considered valid only if all the material concerning the artistic proposal is included in the application. The proposals should meet the deadline of the call.

If a mediator submits the proposal, an official letter from the theatre group should accompany the application, stating that the theatre group authorizes the mediator to apply to the Festival.

When the Selection Committee selects the performance, the theatre group must submit evidence proving that the rights as regards the translation are secured.

The Cyprus Centre of the International Theatre Institute will cover accommodation, meals and transportation in Cyprus.

The submission of application is equal to acceptance of ALL terms.

All applications should be submitted using the special form that can be found on the website of the Cyprus Centre of the ITI: www.cyprus-theatre-iti.org and the website of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Cultural Services http://www.moec.gov.cy/en/cultural_services.html

The chosen theatre groups will be asked to sign a contract with the Cyprus Centre of the International Theatre Institute.

The deadline for applying is Friday 31^st January 2014 the latest. The applications should be sent to:

The package should include: the special form for application, the theatre group’s CV, the director’s and main cast profiles, the cast and credits, photos of the proposed performance and a Screener DVD of the performance.
